A South Dakota farm girl at heart, I strongly value building relationships with the kids and families I work with! I focus my work exclusively on children and their families, providing individual therapy, family therapy, and psychological evaluations for children. I work with children of all ages, but primarily center on young children (18 mos-12 yrs). I enjoy working with children experiencing a variety of challenges: life changes (e.g., family move, parental military deployment, death in family, parents’ divorce or separations, major medical issues, adoption), abuse/neglect/trauma-related impacts, developmental disorders (low intellectual functioning, autism spectrum disorder), and other mental health difficulties (e.g., ADHD, anxiety disorder, depression, behavioral issues). I very closely work with caregivers and value the critical role and expertise they play in their child’s life. I take a combined cognitive-behavioral and family systems approach while also taking child development into account as well, always seeking to provide evidence-based interventions.

I am a South Dakota licensed clinical psychologist. I received my doctoral degree in clinical psychology at The University of South Dakota (go ‘yotes!) in 2006. Both my masters and doctoral degree research examined school bullying. I emphasized my doctoral training on children and families and in doing so also received training specific to early childhood mental health (including play therapy), and have recently become certified to provide Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT). I have also completed training to conduct autism evaluations. I have a doctoral specialization in disaster mental health (with an emphasis on children) as well.

On a personal note, I am married and have three children of my own under 16 as well as and two fur children, Pitch and Pepper (both Great Danes). I help with youth in my community, through both elementary school and middle school parent teacher associations, coaching elementary basketball, coaching fastpitch softball, and as a 4-H leader. Above all, I am a Christian and strive for my work and daily life to always be reflective of this.
