About Dr. Kozel
In my 20 years as a licensed psychologist, I’ve found that I’m most passionate about working with clients who are ready to go a bit deeper. My personal preference is for experiential, deeper processing—an active and engaged way of working that looks at the “stuck” parts of our lives. Rather than just focusing on surface-level symptoms, I enjoy helping adults and teens explore the formative experiences that shape how they feel and relate to others today.
My approach is a blend of what I find most effective: the deep, transformative work of Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), paired with the practical, “real-world” tools of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I aim to create a space that is both soul-searching and grounded, helping you find balance and regulation in your daily life.
My Background
I’ve spent my career practicing here in the Midwest. I earned my master’s degree at Mankato State University and my doctorate at the University of South Dakota. I also completed an internship at the Kansas City VA Medical Center and a postdoctoral fellowship in neuropsychology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. This training provides the foundation for the work we do together, allowing us to move toward lasting, meaningful change
